BSBHW 2019: FS2 Investigating Germs!

6th Nov 2019

This afternoon, as part of Be Safe Be Happy Week, FS2 have learned about the importance of hand washing.

We have spoken about when it is really important to wash your hands before eating and after going to the toilet, if you sneeze or cough into your hands or if your hands are dirty from outside.

Mrs Prentice and Mrs Walton role played a scenario where Mrs Prentice sneezed into her hands and greeted Mrs Walton with a handshake! Green paint was used as a visual aid to demonstrate the point.

We talked about how germs can be on hands and transferred to other people or to surfaces such as tables, chairs, toys and door handles.

Mrs Prentice and Mrs Walton shook hands with the children who wished to participate to show how easy germs can travel.

We then watched a couple of videos to help the children to know how to wash their hands and for how long.
