Chinese New Year

15th Feb 2018

This week we have looked at Chinese New Year celebrations. We have looked at how Chinese children celebrate the new year, we have discussed decorations used to adorn houses, we have watched a video of a Chinese Dragon dance and have performed our own. The children have made their own Chinese lanterns and have attempted to use chopsticks to transfer pompoms between bowls. We have learnt all about the origin of the Chinese Zodiac and how each year (over a 12 year period) is represented by an animal. Finally this afternoon we popped down to the staff room to prepare, cook and eat some Chinese Stir Fry. We are very proud of the children trying the food and despite a few children saying that they wouldn't like it, each and every child tried it and many of them wanted seconds!
