Y1 English: The Train Ride...

16th Jan 2024

Here is a message from Mrs Sambrook

Today the children enjoyed a magical train ride, without even leaving the classroom!

To excite and engage the children, prior to reading our new story 'The Train Ride', they joined in with a pretend train ride.

After collecting their tickets they boarded the train, or waited on the platform until our imaginary train stopped at their station. They then watched a film as they left the station, a moment narrated by the conductor in our class. They then embarked on their journey, travelling through the city and countryside as well through a long and  dark tunnel.

Afterwards they thought about the things they had seen, felt and wondered about. They used these thoughts as they wrote about what they had experienced. Some children drew a thought bubble, some drew and then labelled pictures and some wrote sentences to share their thoughts.

What a journey!

Pope Francis (1936-2025)
Eternal rest,
Grant unto him, O Lord,
And let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest, in peace.
Amen
Pope Francis (1936-2025)
