Y1 Geography: Exploring the UK!

14th Mar 2021

In Geography we have been learning about our country and the four nations that make up the UK.

Our Y1 children used 'Google Maps' and atlases to find each country.

This week we have been looking at aerial photos of some of the main landmarks in each country, e.g. The Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland and Tower Bridge in London, England.

We discussed the human and physical features of the four UK nations and the children used photos to spot and name these.

We then enhanced our new learning by watching an interesting BBC video called 'Go Jetters'.

Finally the children sorted and grouped information cards that were linked to each country and completed a recording task.
