Food Fit for a Queen!

23rd Mar 2019

Last week the children of Y1 learned that Paddington Bear had received a very important invitation!

He was invited to meet the Queen at Buckingham Palace, but the invite requested that Paddington took some of his favourite food.

The children decided (of course) that Paddington's favourite food is marmalade and jam sandwiches!

They did some work on creating instructions, making sure they used 'bossy' imperative verbs - which tell readers what to do.

Mrs Hadfield then made a sandwich, helped by the children who were giving her instructions.

They quickly realised that unless the instructions are clear and specific everything can all go very wrong!

Last week the children wrote their own instructions for making a sandwich and today they made them.

(They also just had to be tested to ensure that they actually were, fit for a Queen!)
