Y1 History Challenge: Houses Now and in the Past

3rd Jun 2024

Before the children learn about homes and houses from the past they were given a challenge today.

The challenge was to build a house for a toy animal, in less than five minutes, using only resources around class.

Some of the children's creations, pictured below, were team efforts.

We then decided, as a class, that whilst there are lots of things that we would like in a house, all we actually need is a roof to shelter us from rain or sun, walls to old up the roof, and a door to keep us secure and safe.

The children will be able to use this knowledge when they in Y3 and learning about early settlers.
