Y1 History: Investigating Toys!

30th Sep 2024

We began our new topic by thinking about what we already know about toys that we have and toys from the past.

We discussed the toys that we enjoy playing with most and everyone described their own toy, thinking about what it is called; its colour; the material(s) it is made from; and what it does.

We realised that some toys needed a battery and that some were given as gifts and some needed the children to use imaginations more.

Everyone drew their toy and described it as we get ready for our next lesson when we will investigate a collection of artefacts (toys) and use them as evidence to increase our understanding and knowledge.

At home it would be wonderful if parents and grandparents could talk to the children about the toys they remember playing with, perhaps finding pictures by going online together, safely.
