Y1 History: Our Visit to The Weston Park Museum!

Here is a message from Mrs Sambrook, one of our Y1 teachers:

WOW!

What a fantastic day we have had on our educational visit to the Weston Park Museum! 

During our special 'Toys Workshop' the museum staff took us to view one of their special collections and led an interesting discussion that really engaged our children. The children looked carefully at the toys on display and considered which were old and which were newer. They even had a go at identifying which toy in the collection might be the oldest one out of all of those on display. 

After that we went up to the classroom and the children were given time to play with a range of different toys, which they all enjoyed before they were given the opportunity to help to create their very own museum piece! 

They all enjoyed being museum curators! 

Each child then had a go at making a clay toy, based on the well known 'Noughts and Crosses' game. 

After enjoying their lunch together, during which we shared stories of our morning adventures, we were given the opportunity to explore the museum and view other collections.

As she left to go home, Chloe said, "That was the best day of my life!". What a fantastic way to describe a super day!

Our children were an absolute credit to themselves, St John Fisher and, of course, their families and they were an absolute joy to take on their VERY FIRST school trip!
