Y1: Immersive Writing!

8th Oct 2019

Today we began a new book as stimulus for our writing.

Only read three sentences were read to the children...

As our book starts the toys have been left outside.

The children then became the toys and were asked to think how the toys would feel, what they may see and what they would be thinking.

They then shared their ideas and afterwards - with no further instruction - they wrote about their own experience, settling well and writing enthusiastically for over twenty-five minutes!

It was fantastic to observe the children putting into practise all the skills we have been focusing on, such as, remembering to add full stops, finger spaces and some capital letters in the right places!

Some work even made it onto the Y1 'Writers' Corner'!
