Lyceum Panto Visit 2023

3rd Dec 2023
A reminder that on Tuesday 12th December 2023, the school community will travel to the Sheffield Lyceum Theatre to watch this year's panto, ‘Beauty and the Beast’. As the performance starts at 1.00pm, we will leave at 12.00pm in order to arrive and settle the children in good time. It will last for approximately 2.5 hours.

As we are leaving at noon, the children will have an early packed lunch, at 11.00am, so they are ready to depart on time. Though we expect to return to school by 4.30pm our actual arrival time will be dictated by the performance-length; the time taken to leave the theatre after the show; time taken to board the coaches; and the traffic on the homeward journey. We aim to return to school between 4.30pm and 5.00pm.

We would be grateful if parents/carers or those collecting the children could wait on the playground and not on the pavement outside school. The school gates will be opened at 4.15pm. Staff will be stationed on all gates once the children are back, to ensure that no child can leave the school site unaccompanied. As it will be dark when we return from the theatre, and the children will be tired, staff will have to take great care ensuring that they keep track of every child. We therefore ask you to be patient whilst waiting for your children, and again we stress the importance of waiting on the playground and not on the pavement outside.

This is extremely important because waiting on the pavement outside school will cause congestion and make it more difficult for the adults supervising our children. Once in school the children will collect their things, before being released from their classrooms on to the playground in the usual way. The younger children will be brought down - and - because it will be dark, we ask that those collecting them listen carefully and make themselves known when their child’s name is called. If there are significant delays we will send out notifications and updates via text, so please ensure that we have your up-to-date contact details.

Again, we thank our fantastic PTFA for all their support. They are covering the significant transport costs; providing the children with interval snacks; and they are providing volunteers to accompany us on the day.

If you would like to get involved, please contact them (ptfa@st-johnfisher.org).

Thank you.
