Y1: Creating Maps!

7th Jul 2019

After our walk around the local area last week our work today focused on recalling all of the features that we saw along our route.

The challenge was to recall them in the order that we saw them.

Using the notes they had made during our walk to refer to, each child created a liner map to show the range of features that we saw.

Once they had drawn and labelled these they then added a 'ph' or 'H' to determine if the feature was human or physical.

The children's next challenge will be to draw their own representations of a map that includes roads.

They will first study an official map of the area (a Google Map and a paper map) before recreating their own one.
