Y1 Mathematics: Time and Months of the Year

4th Dec 2022

We are beginning explore and learn about time

Over the next two weeks the children will be learning the months of the year, and reflect on what can be done in a minute - ordering events of the day and beginning to tell the time on an analogue clock (o'clock).

Today the children started learning about the months of the year by singing songs; playing 'ordering' games and making a paper-chain using months of the year, in the correct order.

At home, parents/carers can help our Y1 children by pointing out the o'clock times on an analogue clockface (not digital) and by using key (time) vocabulary like:

  • morning
  • afternoon
  • evening
  • night
  • before
  • next
  • after
  • later
  • using these words to put the events of a day in order
