Meet the Governors: Mrs Clair Prestidge
Hi, My name is Clair Prestidge, I'm a single mum to Lydia, who is currently in Y2. I work full time as a project manager for an engineering company.
My work involves me travelling around the country, currently I am working on projects in Newcastle, Liverpool and North Wales.
In my spare time, I enjoy watching Sheffield United, going to the cinema, in an evening I enjoy doing embroidery and have just discovered diamond painting.
I was involved in the school prior to Lydia starting through my niece and nephew, Amelia and William and have always loved the ethos and the friendliness of the school. I was so pleased when Lydia was accepted that I wanted to be able to give something back.
I'm currently a member of the Governing Body as a Foundation Governor, I have been in this position for 2 years, my role is chair of the finance committee as well as sitting on the other committees.
I applied for the role of Governor as I wanted to gain a better understanding of how the school worked. Also because I work full-time I wanted to be in a position to know what was happening at school and contribute where I can.
Being a Governor has its challenges, but it is also rewarding - working within the school; supporting the teachers where I can; and also seeing the children thrive. What amazed me when I first started was how passionate all the staff are about our school and the way they go above and beyond for our children, all with the very limited resources that it has, this still amazes me every day!
It was the passion shown by the staff and PTFA that encouraged me to get involved more in the school. I helped out on a couple of events and seeing the enjoyment from the children encouraged me to step up to be in the committee when the previous committee wanted to step down.
As a result, I am also the Chairperson for the PTFA. This is again challenging at times but the satisfaction of seeing the difference it makes to our children at the end of the event makes it all worthwhile. I am proud to be a Governor and to be part of the decision making team, I'm also proud to lead the PTFA in fundraising for our amazing school and building the memories that will stay with our children for their lifetime.
I am part of a fantastic team that makes our school the best it can be.
