Y1: Money, Money, Money!

22nd Jun 2019

The children of Y1 are learning about money and practising how to work with it.

They have been learning that different coins have different values and they are spending time describing and sorting as part of their exploration.

Over the next week we will be considering how 5 x 1p is equivalent to 1 x 5p.

We will also be adding different amounts together investigating all the different ways we can pay for something using different coins.

It would be really helpful of your child could look at some different British coins and notes, and spend some time sorting them and asking questions to help your child build his/her understanding of equivalence and worth.

Maybe they could help sort the money when you buy something from the shop?
