Y6 Music: Rhythm and Lyrics

22nd Mar 2024

This week in our music lesson, the Y6 children continued learning about rhythm and lyrics, with a particular focus on rap music. They have been exploring the origins of rap music, as well as learning about the concepts of pulse and rhythm and how they relate to the rap genre.

The children are working in groups to create their own rap, using the knowledge they are gaining, and this week they focused on rhyming couplets, and how practicing tongue twisters can help them in a performance.

Using the music of The Black Eyed Peas, as a reference, they looked in depth at the way their lyrics were created to build a story.

The children will perform their final raps to each other when they are complete.
