Our latest recommendation for younger children is ‘I’m Sticking With You’ by Smriti Prasadam-Halls

The Waterstones Review

Very funny and utterly endearing, I’m Sticking with You is a heart-warming rhyming tale of friendship and attachment from the beloved author of Elephant in My Kitchen

Shortlisted for the British Book Awards Children's Illustrated & Non-Fiction Book of the Year 2021

A gorgeously warm, funny book about everything a friendship can be for anyone who's ever had a friend. Wherever you're going, I'm going too. Whatever you're doing, I'm sticking with you.

It's wonderful to have good friends to see you through the good times and the bad. But sometimes, friends can also be a bit, well, overbearing.

This completely irresistible rhyming text by Smriti Halls is perfectly complemented by artwork from fantastic new picture book illustrator, Steve Small. Please click here to find out more.

Our recommendation for older children is ‘Shackleton’s Journey’by William Grill.

The Waterstones Review

A breathtaking visual representation of Shackleton's fateful expedition to Antarctica, Grill's stunningly illustrated volume includes exploded diagrams of provisions and expressive images of the icebound environment and is perfect reading for both children and adults alike.

Debut illustrator William Grill brings us a detailed visual narrative of Shackleton's epic journey to Antarctica. Grill's beautiful use of coloured pencils and vibrant hues places him somewhere on the artistic spectrum between Raymond Briggs and David Hockney and his fastidious cataloguing of every single detail of the expedition is nothing short of a Blackstock collection. He manages to evoke the atmosphere and intrepid excitement that would have surrounded the expedition with his impeccably researched, detailed and atmospheric drawings.

Children will love examining the exploded diagrams of the now peculiar provisions taken and the individual drawings of each sled dog and pack horse. This book takes the academic and historical information surrounding the expedition and reinterprets it for a young audience in a way that will capture their imaginations.
