Our full 2021-22 SJF book list is available on  our website and can be accessed via this here

Our latest feature books are:

I Care About My Friends by Liz Lennon: The Waterstones Review

A charming non-fiction book that promotes a caring attitude, confidence, self-esteem and gives children a way to discuss emotions. The book explores topics such as what makes a good friend, best friends and friendship groups and explains what bullying is. It includes practical advice for making and keeping friends. The book is an ideal starting point for discussing friendship issues.

It is part of a series 'I care about' for younger children. The other titles are: ‘My Friends’, ‘My Planet’, ‘Animals’, ‘My Family’, ‘My Growing Brain’ and ‘My Body’. The illustrations by Michael Buxton are quirky and fun and are designed to inspire a child's imagination.

Orphans of the Tide by Struan Murray: The Waterstones Review

The City was built on a sharp mountain that jutted improbably from the sea, and the sea kept trying to claim it back. That grey morning, once the tide had retreated, a whale was found on a rooftop.

When a mysterious boy washes in with the tide, the citizens believe he's the Enemy - the god who drowned the world - come again to cause untold chaos. Only Ellie, a fearless young inventor living in a workshop crammed with curiosities, believes he's innocent.

But the Enemy can take possession of any human body and the ruthless Inquisition are determined to destroy it forever.

To save the boy, Ellie must prove who he really is - even if that means revealing her own dangerous secret...
