Our Latest Statement of Belief

12th Mar 2023

Next week our ‘Statement of Belief’ is ‘I know it is ok to make mistakes’

Time to talk: We know that making mistakes is a normal part of learning.

Making mistakes as we learn is ok - and completely normal.

If we worry about making mistakes then we might become fearful learners and fearful learners tend to find learning scarier and more difficult. They can struggle to reach their potential because they worry about trying new things.

Trying new things is what confident learners are happier doing because they understand that just having a go is important.

Trusting grown-ups when they encourage you to try new things is really important, even though you know that mistakes might be made. It is ok and also important.

Can you think of a mistake that you once made, that ended up spurring you on to do (or be) even better at something?

Perhaps when you learned to ride a bicycle for the first time?
