Y1: Our Toys

29th Sep 2019

Today the children brought in and shared their toys from home with each other.

They were encouraged to think about

  • what the toys was called
  • the materials they were made from
  • how to describe them
  • how they work and what they do
  • what makes a a toy a favourite toy

Children worked in pairs and small groups (with adults listening in to support a good use of vocabulary and encourage the children to speak in full sentences).

These full sentences were then used to help the children construct their own sentences to write!

The children used their exciting stimulus to write all about their favourite toy.

Thank you to parents and carers for facilitating toys being brought into school.
