Processing Safeguarding Information

13th Sep 2018

At St John Fisher we take safeguarding extremely seriously.

The safeguarding message that is shared constantly with all children is that they each have three rights: to feel happy, safe and loved at all times in their lives.

We work actively in school and with a range of partners and agencies, acting on information to ensure that our children are safe at all times.

Safeguarding information is sensitive, so it is gathered, stored, used and shared in line with Data Protection legislation and guidance from the Sheffield Safeguarding Board as circumstances demand.

At St John Fisher we use a computer system called CPOMS in order to record and share safeguarding information.

What is CPOMS?

CPOMS is a leading software application used by many schools to monitor child protection, safeguarding and a whole range of pastoral and welfare issues.

Working alongside our existing safeguarding processes, CPOMS is an intuitive system which helps us to manage and record issues like child protection, behavioural issues, bullying, special educational needs and domestic issues.

Using CPOMS, helps ensure that students are safe and supported fully.

Every member of staff across school has an obligation to report any concerns which they may have. CPOMS allows them to record information in a central repository and have relevant people alerted immediately.

Senior leaders are then able to build a chronology around any student and produce reports on vulnerable pupils (and pupil groups) for case conferences, meetings, Governors and Ofsted inspectors at the touch of a button.

The security around the system is extremely strong and all staff who use the system receive appropriate training.
