SJF School Council Update

Here’s a word from Ava, a Y6 councillor and this year’s secretary.

We’re coming towards the end of the school year and it will soon be time for next year’s councillors to be elected. Next term, we are planning to talk to the other children before the elections to explain why the School Council is so important, and to give them advice on how councilors can represent the views of the children in their classes.

SJF Eco Team Update
The children have worked hard this year, putting plans in place for the future. these include:

  • installing a 'Swift Brick'
  • planting wildflower seeds to attract pollinators
  • working on helping us to finish our new wildlife area
  • finding out if the council can do more to make it easier for schools to recycle

Their aim is to help make our school more sustainable and environmentally friendly whilst sharing positive messages about the things we can all do to help. In order to put these ambitious plans into practice, they are working hard to think of some creative fundraising ideas and are very excited to have been invited to have their own stall at the forthcoming PTFA Friday Fayre!

The team is already having some amazing thoughts about how to make the most of this great opportunity.

Katie in Y6 has share this on behalf of the team:

“We are very excited to run our Eco Team stall at the Summer Fayre. We have discussed ideas and voted on an Eco-Themed stall – we can’t wait to get fundraising!”

The Friday Fayre will take place after school on the 28th June 2024, and we sincerely hope that you will be able to join us. If you can support our PTFA on the day, please email them (ptfa@st-johnfisher.org).

Thank you.
