Reading for pleasure!

Our Books of the Week

For Our Younger Children

For our Older Children
This week’s book recommendation for our younger children comes from Mr MacInnes and is by the wonderful author, Daisy Hirst, and is called “Alphonse, There’s Mud on the Ceiling! Our book recommendation for our older children this week also comes from Mr MacInness and is called 100 Best Poems for Children”, edited by Roger Mcgough.

Mr Macinnes writes:

This is a fantastic storybook all about two little monsters called Natalie and Alphonse, who are brother and sister. They live in a small flat with their parents and but don’t have much space to have fun and play. They don’t let this get in their way though, with positive attitudes and their brilliant imaginations they manage to go on lots of exciting adventures together.

Mr Macinnes writes:

I’ve always enjoyed reading poems, and having them read to me. This book of poems has been voted for by children and I really like the range of different poems that it contains. It has silly, funny poems and dark, serious poems. It also has poems written by modern-day authors, like Michael Rosen, as well as classic poems written by authors who lived hundreds of years ago, like William Shakespeare.
