Y6 RE: The Importance of Forgiveness

10th Sep 2024

This week, the young people of Y6 have been considering Christian perspectives of forgiveness.

They read 'The Parable of The Prodigal Son', in which a father readily welcomes his son home, and forgives him unconditionally, after he left home and made a series of disastrous decisions. Using the story, the children tried to understand why the gift of forgiveness can be so powerful and why it is key to our Christian faith.

The reflected on why the act of forgiving can be challenging as they began to understand the links between forgiveness, unconditional love and developing a strong and open relationship with God.

By using their knowledge of Jesus' teachings on forgiveness - and the parable of the Prodigal Son for inspiration - the children were able to create some beautiful work that explored the questions and morals linked to forgiveness whilst also reflecting on how forgiveness has impacted on their lives too.
