Remembrance 2021

31st Oct 2021

Remembrance 2021

All children will have special lessons around remembrance, and the commemoration of Remembrance Sunday. They will learn about its origins and gain an appreciation of its national significance as they learn about the sacrifices made by British and Commonwealth service personnel and their families in the First World War and in all the conflicts since. We will pause to reflect and honour them as we also reflect on the suffering of civilians and victims on all sides. We will pray for peace in our world and an end to armed conflicts.

On Armistice Day (Thursday 11th November 2021) the children will participate in our annual Service of Remembrance at Our Lady of Lourdes, which will be led by the young people of Y6. Due to COVID restrictions, we still cannot invite family and friends, unfortunately, so we will film the service and upload the recording to the our website so that it can be viewed by family and friends afterwards by clicking here

Poppy Appeal 2021

We are proud to support the fantastic work of the Royal British Legion by taking part in this year’s annual poppy appeal, as we do every year. Paper poppies in a range of styles will be on sale to staff and pupils for a donation to the appeal. For metal badges we ask for minimum donation of £1 and more if you can afford it. Poppies will go on sale from the from Monday 1st November 2021 until Friday 12th November 2021.

Please support this worthy cause. Thank you.
