REMINDER: SJF Sports Day 2022

26th Jun 2022

SJF Sports Day 2022

  • Our first Sports day in two years is scheduled to take place on Friday 8th July 2022.
  • All children are asked to come to school wearing their PE uniform.

Morning Activities & Lunch

In the morning our whole-school Festival of Sport makes a welcome return, with the children working in teams as they participate in a circuit of different and exciting sporting challenges. Friends and family are not invited to this part of the day. As it is a special day, the children will eat either cold school lunch (please order from the sandwich options) or they can choose to bring in their own packed lunch from home if they prefer.

Afternoon Events for Younger Children

Parents/Carers with children in FS2, Y1 and Y2 only are invited in from 12.45pm, and are asked to queue outside school whilst they are waiting to be let in. Once in the school grounds, you are asked to remain on the field and not to enter school. If you need anything, please go to the school office only. There will be no entry directly in to school from the field, in line with our safeguarding risk assessment, so please do not try.

The events for children in FS2, Y1 and Y2 will take place between 1.00pm and 2.00pm. When they are finished, the children will be taken back in to class. Parents/carers will then have the option to either stay until the end of the afternoon and watch their older children race or - if they do not have older children taking part in the Y3-Y6 races, they can take their young children straight home. If this is the case, then they should go directly to the School Office (and not the classroom) in order to collect their children.

Important

Please note that younger children can only be collected after their earlier races if they are being taken straight home. They cannot be collected early and taken back to watch the rest of Sports Day.

Afternoon Events for Older Children

Parents/Carers with children in Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 are invited in from 1.45pm, and are also asked to queue outside school in the usual way until they are admitted. The events for older children will take place between 2.00pm and 3.00pm. Younger siblings who have not been taken straight home will be supervised in class.

When they have finished their races, the older children will also be taken back in to class so that they can gather their things, before being released on to the playground with the younger children left in school.

Everything is scheduled to finish at approximately 3.00pm and parents and carers are asked to wait on the playground for the children to be released at the end of the school day. Please do not try to access the school building.

We will allow parents/carers to photograph/video their children from their places but we ask that these are not then uploaded to social media, if the pictures include any images of other children, even if these are partial and in the background. Some of our children are not allowed to have their photographs publicly available online, whether it be on the school website or on someone’s social media account. We thank you for your cooperation and support with this. Staff will also be taking photographs of all the races (and of children who can be photographed), and these will be available to view and download via our SJF website.

Reserve Sports Day

In the event that the Sports Day cannot go ahead, for example, because of bad weather, it will be moved to Wednesday 13th July 2022 and the same timetable and arrangements will apply. In the unlikely event that it cannot go ahead on this day too, then our sports day will not be rescheduled for a second time.
