Y3: Our Fantastic Roman Day at The Yorkshire Farming Museum!

27th Jan 2023

What a wonderful day we have had!

Our Y3 children were given the opportunity to experience a day as a Roman soldier!

They had to be auxiliaries, rather than ‘full’ Roman soldiers, because living in Britannia meant they were still classed as Celts.

To be an auxiliary meant that they first needed to learn how to write in Latin, make, and pay for, their own equipment, before learning how to fight in battles.

Our Roman auxiliaries demonstrated great enthusiasm whilst being trained by the Centurion, and were calm and creative whilst they wrote with Octavia, the Commander's wife.

Well done to everyone in Y3, you were all fantastic!
