Y3 History: Our Roman Adventure!
What a fantastic day we have had! Our Y3 historians enjoyed an immersive Roman experience at Murton Park; the Yorkshire Museum of Farming!
They were immediately transformed into auxiliaries and marched to the Roman fort where they took part in lessons designed to help them become Roman soldiers.
They learned that centurions led the auxiliaries, teaching them how to write; how to mould their own oil lamps; how to fight with swords and shields; and finally how to create a 'tortoise' formation to attack Celtic tribes.
Everyone had a great time.
We thank Mrs Broadhead for organising this special visit; the special group of volunteers who joined us to support the children; the fantastic team at Murton Park; and of course the children themselves, who engaged so positively and were superb ambassadors of our school.
