Y1Science: Investigating Animals

4th Nov 2022

The children have been thinking about what makes an animal an animal!

They considered things like:

  • growing
  • moving
  • eating
  • needing to 'wee' and 'poo'
  • having babies

The children then explored different ways of grouping animals, before deciding on their own groups.

Throughout they were introduced to some of the scientific vocabulary that scientists use when they group animals, for example:

  • mammal
  • amphibian
  • bird
  • reptile
  • fish
  • invertebrates
