Y4 Science: Experimenting with Sound!

26th Apr 2024

This week, our Y4 children were investigating some of the different ways that we can feel sound.

Using balloons, they experimented with how vibrations travel through a space with compressed air, as opposed to a large room. By holding their ear to a balloon, they could feel the vibrations of sound if their partner spoke into in, which demonstrated how sound waves reach their ears.

Then, using a blindfold, the children attempted to identify the origin of different sounds being made. They had great fun with their investigations and then worked very hard to record what they had learned, trying hard to include the appropriate scientific language and technical vocabulary that we have been using.
