Sports Day 2019

22nd Jun 2019

Sports Day 2019

Next Friday is Sport Day and we would like all the children to come to school wearing their SJF PE uniform. Children should also have sun hats to wear and sun cream applied at home, before school if it is sunny.

There will be no Celebration Assembly as the children will be taking part in a ‘round robin’ of activities throughout the morning in groups. The children will then enjoy an earlier lunch so that we can accommodate both the FS2/Key Stage 1 competition at 1.00pm and the Key Stage 2 at 2.00pm.

As usual we welcome family and friends to join us in order to support and encourage all the children, but we ask respectfully that you remain in the designated area. Thank you

FS2 & Key Stage1(Years 1-2) Competition

  • races for children in FS2 and Years 1 and 2 start at 1.00pm
  • the gate will be opened (and supervised) at 12.50pm - and remain open until 1.05pm
  • once the gate is locked, visitors are asked to report to the School Office in order to gain entry into school
  • after the races the younger children will return to class
  • the younger children can be taken home early, but only if parents and carers are leaving school and are not staying for the races involving the older children
  • if you wish to take your FS2/KS1 child home only please follow the children to their classroom nd wait for them to be released into your care by a member of staff and you leave via the main entrance
  • those staying for the Key Stage 2 competition at 2.00pm are requested to leave their younger children in class until the end of the day

Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6) Competition

  • races for children in Key Stage 2 start at 2.00pm
  • the pedestrian gate will again be opened and supervised from 1.50pm until 2.10pm
  • once the gate is locked at 2.10pm, visitors will need to report to the School Office in order to gain entry
  • after the races guests are asked to remain on the playground until the children are released
  • the pedestrian gate will be opened/supervised in the usual way as soon as the children are ready

Bad Weather

In the event of bad weather a text will be sent out late morning advising parent/carers that the event is either going ahead or is cancelled. If the event has to be cancelled then it will be rescheduled for Tuesday 2nd July, and the same arrangements will apply. Unfortunately if this event is also cancelled because of the weather our Sports Day will not be rescheduled, so we are all praying for good weather!
