Y1 STEM Fortnight (so far...)

11th Jan 2023

We began our STEM work by revisiting (and enjoying) the of the well known story, 'The Three Little Pigs', and then we thought about what the pigs' houses were made from.

The children described the straw, bricks and sticks, giving lots of thought about appearance and texture of each.

They then wondered about how all the three pigs would fit into one house and that maybe they needed a new house.

The children decided that the pigs needed a waterproof house and in groups the children thought about the different things that could be done to test different materials to see which were waterproof and which were not.

Next week the children will carry out further testing in order to answer their question 'Which material will be best to build a new house for the pigs?'
