Y1: STEM Week & The Three Little Pigs!

10th Feb 2020

We have been busy, starting work on our 'STEM Week' activities!

As a stimulus we read the well-known tale, 'The Three Little Pigs' and created our own story web as we tried to recall each part of the story in the correct order.

This afternoon we investigated and named the different materials used to build the pigs' houses, and thought about the properties of each as we described them to one another. We tried to use a fantastic range of descriptive vocabulary like: 'hard', 'soft', 'rough', 'smooth', 'rigid' and 'flexible'.

We will continue to use the story as a focus for further work on materials later in the week.

Sadly, the pigs are going to encounter a huge problem and the children in Y1 will need to come to the rescue by planning and carrying out investigations in order to solve it by designing something to help them...
