The Bishop's Appeal

Chaplaincy News: The Good Shepherd Appeal 2023

Caritas Diocese of Hallam (formerly known as Hallam Caring Services) is part of the worldwide network of Catholic organisations.

These groups aim to put into action the Church’s social teaching by reaching out to those in need and to work towards transforming the world in to one based on justice and love.

In England and Wales this mission of the Church is co-ordinated by Caritas Social Action Network (CSAN) which works in partnership with the network of organisations in the twenty-two dioceses in England and Wales including our own.  Hallam Caring Services works within this umbrella organisation as an affiliation of projects and organisations that serve the social needs in our Diocese including offering services to:

·  the young

·    the vulnerable

·  the homeless

·  those with mental illness

·    the poor

·  the lonely

·  the elderly

·    refugees and asylum seekers

As a school community we will again take part in the Bishop’s Good Shepherd Appeal, as we always do, in Lent. All money raised will be passed on to support this very important work in our own community.

Over the next two weeks we will be collecting loose change for the appeal. We want to collect enough coins so that if they were laid in a row, they will stretch across our school playground and we appeal to all our families to help us is in this mission. We are looking for the donation of coins of all values - from 1p up to £2 – anything, everything will be received, with our sincere thanks.

A few of our older chaplains measured the length and breadth of the playground and are waiting to get counting so they can give an update next week. Please support us, by sending in all your spare change.
