Update: SJF School Council - Visit of Mr Clive Betts MP
Mr MacInnes, Coordinator
On Friday 6th December the St. John Fisher School Council was delighted to welcome Sheffield South East MP, Clive Betts, to our school. The councilors prepared various questions, ranging from the importance of democracy and the role of Parliament, to whether Mr Betts had met the King and who his favourite musician is!
The councilors were fascinated to listen to Mr Betts’ accounts of meeting figures such as Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, various Prime Ministers and Nelson Mandela. Here’s a word from Jack, our School Council Chair on what it was like to welcome our local Member of Parliament St John Fisher.
It was really exciting to welcome Mr Betts to school today. It was my job to welcome him on behalf of the Council so I was quite nervous, but he was very nice and answered all of our questions.
I really enjoyed it when he told us about meeting the Queen and what she was like. I also found it interesting when he talked about how he got elected as an MP. At the end of our meeting, we gave him a tour, and he told us that our school is lovely and that he’d like to come back again in the future. On behalf of the School Council, I would like to thank Mr Betts for visiting us today.
