Y4 Update!

28th Nov 2024

It has been all go in Year 4 this week!

We have almost completed our fantastic descriptive writing based on the well known story, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. For the last few weeks we have worked hard to build up a range of descriptive and emotive vocabulary, and we are now ready to publish our writing. I am sure that we will do Roald Dahl justice.

Mathematics has been tricky as the children have tried to apply their knowledge of multiplication tables in order to divide numbers using mental strategies. It has been a challenge that they have all managed to rise to, as they take another step closer to the goal of mastering division.

For Science this week, the children continued investigating the digestive system, following the journey of food from the start to the end. From this they generated a number of interesting questions, including:

  • What are enzymes?
  • How does the liver help us to digest food?
  • Why is the small intestine called 'small' when it is larger than the large intestine?

(There are Smilies up for grabs for anyone who can answer these questions next week).

In Art this week the children put their sketching skills to the test by completing a half picture of a celebrity, which has been a lot of fun!

Finally, in our French lessons we have learned the translation for a number of important buildings within a town, and then we designed our own town crossroads complete with four buildings of our choice.

Well done to everyone in Y4 this week!
