FS2: What is in our Garden? (Part 1)

28th Apr 2024

The children have been learning about all the things that a plant needs to grow big and strong. We have listened to stories and sang songs about growing plants, as well as finding out information about why all the sun and rain in springtime is perfect for the seeds to start to grow.

We investigated the different parts of real plants in class and then we went for a big walk around our school in search of buds and new leaves. The children were amazed at how big and strong the tree roots were that were showing above the soil.

Each child planted their own sunflower seed and then a very helpful group of volunteers helped to sow wild flower seeds and plant seedlings in our garden.
