Y4: The Weekly Update!

4th Oct 2024

Here is a message from Mr Folmer

Hello everyone,

It has been another learning-packed week in Y4, with some new experiences! In our English lessons we have explored our new writing stimulus; FLOTSAM. It is a picture book where all is not as it seems, and it has left us with more questions than answers, as you can tell by our facial expressions!

In mathematics, we have carried on with methods for addition and subtraction calculations. This week we have focused on producing an estimation, and then we have carried out the calculation without estimating and we compared the two answers.

Looking further afield to the wider curriculum, in science we have been looking at classifying animals and we have looked at the different groups that make up vertebrates and invertebrates. Then through our music lessons we have brought some song and dance into Y4! We have listened to three different versions of 'This Little Light of Mine', we compared these different versions, considering their tempos and different instruments used, and we also tried some dancing to the beat!

Well done, Y4!
