Y4 History: Our Viking Visit to Murton Park!
Here is a message from Mrs Hambleton
We have had the most fantastic day visiting the Viking village at Murton Park; the Yorkshire Museum of Farming!
We met the Lord of the village and other villagers who showed us how Vikings used to make bread and tallow lamps.
The children experienced the dark, smokey interior of a Viking long house and sheltered from the blustery wind outside!
After lunch, they learned how Vikings defended their villages from Anglo-Saxon attacks before heading home.
Everyone had a wonderful day bringing learning to life!
We thank Mrs Broadhead for organising this special visit; the special group of volunteers who joined us to support the children; the fantastic team at Murton Park; and of course the children themselves, who engaged so positively and were superb ambassadors of our school.
