Y5: Exploring the Solar System

26th Sep 2020

As part of our Earth & Space topic in Science this half-term, we have been learning about the solar system. We have explored the role of the Sun in our solar system and its relationship with the different planets that orbit around it. To understand the Earth's place in the universe, we have also investigated and defined scientific terms like 'galaxy', 'Milky Way', 'universe' and 'light year'.

The fantastic work which we have produced in our Science books this week identifies the key characteristics of the eight planets, such as size, proximity to the Sun, atmosphere and orbit.
