Y5 History: Anglo-Saxon Justice

28th Apr 2021

This week we have been learning about the brutal Anglo-Saxon justice system. We began by comparing and contrasting Anglo-Saxon crime and punishment with that of the Ancient Romans, which was our history focus last week, and then placed the Anglo-Saxon period within our class timeline. We then defined some key terms such as 'deterrent', 'wergild' and 'tithing', before further exploring the many laws and corresponding punishments used by the Anglo-Saxon people.
