Y6: All Saints Transition Lesson

6th May 2024

A message from Mr MacInnes

On Wednesday, the children of Year 6 were very happy to welcome a number of staff member from All Saints Catholic High School into our classroom for a transition taster lesson and a group discussion about various aspects of the transition from primary to secondary school.

All of the Y6 children, including those who are not moving up to All Saints in September, benefited from taking part in an excellent English lesson delivered by All Saints English teacher, Miss Cole. The children learnt how to make their very own 'blackout poetry', a unique form of poetry creation whereby each child was given a page from a novel, which they they then drew over with black marker, leaving specific words and phrases of their choice to create their very own poem.

Following this, Mrs. Hartley and Mrs. Murasa from the All Saints Transition team met with the class and answered a range of questions from the children about life at All Saints and the transition from Y6 to Y7. It was fantastic to get to know some of the staff from All Saints, to meet take part in a Y7 taster English lesson and to learn so much about forthcoming move that out Y6 children are going make.

We would like to thank Mrs. Hartley, Mrs. Murasa and Miss Cole for such an engaging and informative afternoon!
