SJF Be Safe - Be Happy Week 2024: The Y6 Experience...

8th Nov 2024

This week, the children of St John Fisher have enjoyed the many activities that have been organised to help them to Be Safe and Be Happy. Our Y6 pupils have had the opportunity to get involved in lessons about various topics from different teachers, each with a useful activity to help them to remember the crucial facts they learned. The lessons covered areas of general and personal safety, including the NSPCC “Pants” lesson as well as fire, water and railway safety. They also looked into the importance of anti-bullying, road safety and into identifying stranger dangers.

They have also enjoyed a range of activities that have taken them out of the classroom, including making healthy smoothies using a static bicycle, and joining their Y2 buddies to meet a member of the South Yorkshire Police.

They were also visited by the Links School Sports partnership for a 'Dancing Happy' session, as well as the wonderful Honey, a Police Therapy and wellbeing service dog, who visited with her handler from OK9.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed the week of activities, and they had plenty to say about their final SJF Be Safe Be Happy week.

Isabelle said, “I really enjoyed the visits from other teachers, and the activities were really helpful.”

Jai said, “I really enjoyed the Safe Swimming lesson about the dangers of open water - the activity was so fun but it also made me remember the rules of keeping safe.”
