Y6 Geography: Exploring European Maps

17th Sep 2021

This week in Geography, we have been learning about the history and importance of cartography, the process of making and using maps. In our work this week, we have focused on world and European maps, but as the unit progresses we will study increasingly local maps, including maps of Hackenthorpe.

We have learnt how to use indexes, page numbers and coordinates to efficiently identify countries and cities. Finally, we used our new skills to locate various countries and their capitals on a European map, and produced a key which corresponds to each nation.
