Y6 History: Investigating the Causes of the First World War
11th Nov 2022
This week in Y6 history we have been learning about the four main causes of the First World War:
- militarism
- alliances
- imperialism
- nationalism
We discussed how these factors affected the political landscape of Europe during the early twentieth century.
We then discussed how this created the conditions that eventually led to the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand (heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary) which contributed to the declaration of war on Serbia, effectively beginning the First World War.
