Y6 RE: The Sacrament of Ordination

4th Nov 2022

This week in Y6 RE we have been learning about the Sacrament of Ordination. This is a very special moment, when a man who has been training to join the priesthood finally becomes a practicing priest. During the celebration of this sacrament, a bishop gives the newly ordained priest a number of gifts, such as a stole (a cloth scarf), a chasuble (a garment worn by the priest during mass) and oil of chrism, which is used to anoint the priest's hands. In our RE books, we have created a detailed account of the gifts given to a priest during the Sacrament of Ordination, as well as an explanation of their significance.
