Y4 Dodgeball Tournament - Final Results!

14th Nov 2024

Here is Mr Folmer's full report...

On Friday, our Y4 children took part in a highly anticipated dodgeball tournament with two other schools from the local area, and what a fantastic day it turned out to be! The competition was full of energy, enthusiasm, and excellent sportsmanship.

Our children were divided into three teams, and these were further divided into boys’ team and girls’ teams, with everyone eager to show off their skills, and - most importantly - to have fun.

As the games kicked off, balls zoomed through the air, and players ducked, dodged, and threw with precision. But what really stood out wasn’t just the athleticism, it was the fantastic attitude displayed by every single participant.

Throughout the tournament, our SJF player demonstrated incredible teamwork. They supported each other, celebrated every small victory, and helped each other out when things got tough.

Whether they were cheering from the sidelines or taking part in the games, it was clear that everyone was working together to make sure the day was enjoyable for all.

One of the most impressive aspects of the tournament was the excellent behaviour of all our children. They showed great respect for their classmates; the other schools; all adults; and the rules of the game. Every player, whether they were in the game or on the sidelines, maintained a positive attitude, proving that the true spirit of the tournament was all about enjoyment and teamwork.

As the final ball had been dodged, we knew that everyone that took part was a winner because of how well everyone approached the day. However, we have still had a nail-biting weekend waiting to find out the final scores.

Now, it is our great please to share with you all the final team placements for the tournament:

  • 1st - - - - - St John Fisher (B)
  • 2nd  - - - - St John Fisher (A)
  • Joint 3rd - St John Fisher (C)

Finishing first, second and tied for third is a phenomenal achievement; even the long walk to and from Birley Academy couldn’t stop us!

This wouldn’t have been possible without our fantastic volunteers who gave up their Friday morning to help walk the children to and from the tournament, and for all of the help and encouragement that they gave throughout the tournament.

We thank the team at Birley Academy for hosting the event and staff and teams from the other schools.

Finally we thank our friends from the LINKS School Sports Partnership for organising and running the event.

Congratulations to Year 4!

We also thank Mrs Broadhead and Mr Folmer for preparing and supporting the children so well and for sorting all the arrangements so that we could participate.
