Aims

Aims

Our aim is to be a vibrant beating heart of our parish and local community working in partnership in order to fulfil our mission every day. The aims are written under the following headings:

  • Faith
  • Curriculum
  • Moral
  • Citizenship

Faith

Aim: To create a rich and vibrant environment where our Catholic values are evident and can be experienced felt in all aspects of school life.

To achieve this:

  • all children will take part in the planned Religious Education programme (Come & See) ensuring a minimum of 10% curriculum time
  • children will participate in daily prayer, acts of worship and Mass
  • prayer corners will be a focal point in every classroom
  • quiet areas will be developed for use by children and staff for individual prayer and reflection
  • strong links will be built and consolidated with the parish and Diocese

Curriculum

Aim: To achieve the highest academic standards possible for every child.

To achieve this, we will:

  • develop an excellent curriculum to reflect our values, vision and mission
  • ensure all curriculum opportunities inspire/energise our children giving them the skills/confidence to become inquisitive/active/resilient life-long learners
  • ensure that in meeting the requirements of the National Curriculum we remain true to our overarching Catholic mission and priorities
  • support teachers so that the experience of all pupils is at least good
  • champion the rights of all children – especially the most vulnerable - by ensuring additional support is provided in the right way and at the right time
  • provide regular curriculum updates to families and opportunities for them to get involved
  • provide support to parents and carers when required so that they feel able to help their children
  • engage with other schools and bodies including the Sheffield Family of Catholic Schools, other local schools, the Diocese of Hallam, Learn Sheffield and the Local Authority to ensure excellence

Moral

Aim: To enable each child to have an embedded and positive sense of self-worth and confidence rooted in service to God and others and respect for self and others.

To achieve this, we will:

  • recognise and celebrate all types of achievement and endeavour
  • ensure that all relationships are based on respect and understanding
  • expect all adults to be role-models who will serve faithfully the spiritual, academic and social needs of our children
  • develop a code of behaviour rooted in Catholic values to promote positive behaviour by setting out and enforcing standards and expectations clearly

Citizenship

Aim: To foster a spirit of citizenship which will enable the children to understand and respond to the needs of the wider community.

To achieve this, we will:

  • continually develop a deeper knowledge, understanding and respect of our own Faith as well as other cultures, beliefs and faiths;
  • take care of our environment;
  • respond to the needs of the local and global community appropriately;
  • strive to live the Gospel values in our school and wider communities
